Sewing lessons for adults or kids to learn how to make a specific project, provide help with specific techniques, create your own designs, sew a pattern from start to finish, or refine your sewing skills.
How It Works
With personalized lessons the focus is on what you want to learn.
Based on your goals and skill level a custom lesson plan is developed to meet your needs. This can include:
- Creating projects from commercial sewing patterns
- Using your own designs
- Focusing on specific sewing techniques
- Getting help with a challenging part of a project you’re already working on
- Learning about tools and materials
This not only includes the time I spend with you but often also includes research, creating custom templates/patterns, and developing individual curriculum. This way we maximize our time together and you get the most out of each session.
About the Instructor
Vanessa has over 20 years of experience teaching kids and adults and offers sewing classes of all skill levels, both locally in Austin and virtually worldwide. She’s also a sewing instructor at Austin Community College and serves on the Fashion Design Advisory Committee.
Formerly an instructor at The Stitch Lab, Vanessa taught a range of classes, private lessons, and summer camps. She also speaks conversational Spanish, French, and Ukrainian, offering students a chance to practice English while learning to sew.
As a full-time designer and seamstress, Vanessa works with clients on custom projects in fashion, adaptable clothing, wearable tech, decor and events, and accessories.
